Marvelous Mondays: Sheer Top

Happy Marvelous Monday! Hope everyone had a fun-filled weekend. Mine was pretty good, although it did rain the entire time. But everything is looking greener and our pollen count is down, so yipee!

If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:
"Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!"

There are currently 5 of us participating in the challenges, so make sure to check out the other ladies' looks! I've posted links at the bottom of this entry for your perusal.

This week the theme was "sheer tops." I have TONS of sheer tops, it's a little silly. I love how comfortable and cool they can be in high temps without being as casual as a tank top. They're a summertime staple of my work wardrobe for this very reason. The one I chose for this challenge is a favorite of mine-- although you can't really tell from the photos, it's a sheer, dainty chiffon.

Believe in Love

Hello, my loves! We're on day 2 of continuous rain here in SC. It's been pretty relaxing to be cozied up on the couch and listening to the quiet drizzle. There's just something soothing about that sound! As a kid I grew up in a mobile home, and although we didn't have much space, one thing I have always missed about it is the sound of rain on the roof at night.

Anywho, here's what I wore to eat lunch and work on some premarital counseling homework with my beau!

Lemon Yellow on a Rainy Day

Hi all! Hope you had a great week! I did a ton of crafting for the wedding this week. My bestie helped me put together about 60 of 100 paper fans we're making to give out at the ceremony. They're shaped like little hearts! Super cute. I'm sure they'll make it into some wedding pictures. :)

Today it's drizzling and a little cool outside, which I thought was the perfect time to debut my lemon yellow pants. I had my second sewing class this morning, so thus far it's been a good day.

Marvelous Mondays: Inspired by Artwork

Happy Marvelous Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was pretty great, full of lots of good stuff. I am looking forward to finally having some time to just relax, though! I'm the type of person that needs a few hours every day to just unwind and enjoy peace and quiet. That's been a bit hard to do with all of the wedding planning coming to fruition here. Yeek!

In any case!

This week the theme was "inspired by artwork." I chose the cubist painter Piet Mondrian's piece "Composition II in Read, Blue, and Yellow."

I originally intended to do some more pattern mixing for this challenge-- I liked the idea of pairing a floral print skirt with a floral print top (drawn from Monet). But when I saw this dress and its cute little brass buttons, I immediately thought of a print of Mondrian's art that used to hang in the children's library back in my hometown when I was a kid.

Crochet, Dots, and Frills

Hello! I finally got some much needed relaxation time today, which was wonderful. It's super hot outside already, and it's only April. I can't wait until the pools start to open! I need to get my swim and sun on.

I am in love with these frilly, silly shorts. They sold out on F21's website really, really quickly. I'm super happy that I managed to snatch up a pair before that happened! They're comfortable and downright cute. I feel like Little Bo Peep in them. :D

Busy Weekend Dress

Hi there! Today was a pretty full day for me. This morning I went to my first ever sewing class. It was so great! I've really been wanting to learn how to operate a sewing machine so that I can do my own alterations and eventually make some clothes. Baby steps, though. It's a lot harder than it looks! Today I made a pillowcase and I'm super proud of it. :)

I also went to a friend's wedding directly after that, so I needed something that would be appropriate for a casual wedding as well. On top of that the wedding was up in the mountains, which is historically about 10 degrees cooler than the temperatures here in the foothills, so I needed something that would be comfortable in warm and cooler weather. Here's what I came up with!

And just because I'm so proud of it-- the pillowcase I made!

Marvelous Mondays: Breaking the Rules

Happy Marvelous Monday my loves! Unfortunately my pics today didn't turn out the greatest. The sky was very dark and stormy looking, and yet the sun was still blazing, which resulting in some very weird lighting. Not to mention it was about 15 degrees hotter outside than when I left for work this morning, and I was suffocating! I'm afraid I rushed these as a result.

In any case!

This week's theme was "breaking a fashion rule." I think as plus-size bloggers we are certainly bogged down with more "rules" than most. I'm happy to say that, in my opinion, the girls involved with this concept are not afraid to challenge the notion that we're only "allowed" to wear things that make us appear to be thinner. You wear the clothes, not the other way around! Wear what makes you happy, or comfortable, or confident. Or don't! But whatever you do I hope it's because you've made that decision, and not because you've felt forced into it by some silly rules.

I broke two rules with this look-- combining prints and wearing horizontal stripes. :)

Breezy Floral Top

Hi lovelies! Sorry posting has been slow this week. With less than four weeks until my wedding day, things have been a little crazy! I've also been putting in some extra hours at work, so it's usually dark o'clock by the time I get home. Things will get back to normal soon, I promise! :)

This is just a simple casual look. I like pieces that have a little extra "something" to make them special, and the sheer chiffon, dipped hem on the back of this top is one of those details I just love. Plus look at the little bow! So cute. Not to mention breezy and comfortable for the warm weather we've been having.

Marvelous Mondays: Maxi

Hello, my lovelies! Happy Marvelous Monday! This week's theme was "maxi." It could be either a skirt or dress.

If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:

I was not in the greatest of moods when I finally was able to snap these photos, and unfortunately it rather shows on my face, haha! I locked myself outside for a bit and it was just the thing that tipped the ice berg as far as bad days go. But I'm okay now! I put my feet up and put some music on and everything is looking up.

Floral Dress and Darker Lipstick

Hi loves! It's super hot outside again today! It's so bright I'm having a hard time taking outfit photos. There's not much shade around my apartment complex.

I wanted to try a darker shade of lipstick than I would normally wear. I think it works well with the outfit as a whole, but I'm not totally sure it's for me. What do you think?

Coral Bird Print

Gotta love the weather in the South! Early on this week it was rainy and cold... today it's like the surface of the sun and twenty times as bright. Crazy! I wish it was like this all the time, though. As much as I love being able to layer in the colder months, something about warm weather and bright sunshine just makes me feel rejuvenated and fresh. There's not much better in this world than driving in your car with the windows down, wearing shades and singing along to blasting music. Love it!
