Our Wedding Day!

Hello, loves! I'm so excited because today I finally get to share some of our wedding photos with you! I think I'll probably break this up into a few posts, because there were so many great details from the day that I am dying to show.

We got married at O'Leno State Park, which is nestled in Northern Florida, on the bank of the Santa Fe River. It's in High Springs, which is a teeny little town known for its amazing underwater cave system that divers come from around the world to explore.

We had the ceremony at 10 o'clock in the morning because we wanted to avoid the warmest parts of the day, and we wanted to soak up as much amazing golden light as possible.

The decorations were a mix of things that I made and things I had collected over the past few years. I painted and cut the signs myself. The "leave a key to happiness" door was salvaged from an old building on my parents' property by my mom and my cousin. My best friend helped me cut and assemble the fans. We made them from really pretty scrapbook paper which I later stamped with our initials. I used the leftover scraps of paper to make the little pennants on the tables.

My grandfather passed away two years ago, and it was tough not having him there to share the day with us. The ring with the blue stone was his, and he never took it off! My mother let me borrow it, so it was my something old, borrowed, and blue-- and it meant a lot to me to have a little piece of him with me.

My aunt and uncle made and decorated our cake. They kept what they were doing a suprise, and it was a great one-- I loved how it looked!

Our photos were taken by the wonderful Ector and Kristina of 33 and a Third Photography! I have to leave you with this one:

Nerd It Up: Game of Thrones

Hello lovelies! Welcome to Nerd It Up! This is a new feature on the blog where I put together plus-size looks inspired by nerd culture. This week the inspiration comes from Game of Thrones!

If you haven't been watching this show, you should definitely check it out. It's based on a series of books by George R R Martin. I haven't read the books but I thrived solely on medieval fantasy novels for the greater part of my adolescence, so to see that world treated with such dignity and artisanship is a big thrill. Not to mention the fur, the feuding, the families, and the sexploits. Game of Thrones for the win!

Marvelous Mondays: Inspired by a Song

Hello loves! My Marvelous Monday post is a little late this week-- so sorry! We got our wedding pictures back last night and I honestly forgot about the post in the excitement. I look forward to sharing those with you guys! Check back later in the week if you're interested. :)

If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:
"Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!"

There are currently 5 of us participating in the challenges, so make sure to check out the other ladies' looks! I've posted links at the bottom of this entry for your perusal.

This week the theme was "inspired by a song." I had a really tough idea coming up with an idea for this one. Then Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" came on my playlist. Remember that old ipod commercial? (Watch it here if not!) I picked the brightest solid color item in my closet and tried to rock it out! Although the pitfall of this idea is that I don't actually have an ipod. I use my phone to listen to tunes, but I think you get the drift.

Marvelous Mondays: Old Faithful

Happy Marvelous Monday! I'm pretty tired today after our quick trip to Florida this weekend, but it was so worth it to see my sweet friend get married.

This week the theme was "old faithful." This was an easy one! We were supposed to select a piece that we can always grab from our closet because we know it's comfy, cute, and versatile. I chose this chiffon houndstooth blouse. I seriously wear this thing at least once a week to work. It's light and comfy, and I love the very slight puffed sleeves and mandarin collar.

Coral Sweetheart

Hello, my loves! We're finally home from our quick trip to Florida, and I have a few pics of my outfit to share with you. :) I wore this to see one of my childhood friends tie the knot-- it was lovely. I had originally planned to wear this with some cute sandals, but my feet were swollen. It was super hot out and my car has no a/c!

Nerd It Up: Star Trek Into Darkness

Hello my loves! Today I wanted to try out a new blog feature that's been rolling around in my head. I wanted to do a series of plus-size round-ups with items inspired by nerd culture. To start us off I took inspiration from the new movie, Star Trek Into Darkness. You should definitely see it if you haven't already! It's a great sci-fi romp full of adventure, humor, and friendship-- true to the sentiment that, in my opinion, has always been at the heart of Star Trek. I tried to capture some of the wayfaring playfulness along with military elements in my selections. Let me know what you think!

Marvelous Mondays: Pattern Mixing

Happy Marvelous Monday! Hope everyone's week is off to a great start. I had kind of a stressful day at work today, but I'm happily relaxing at home now.

This week the theme was "pattern mixing." I am so not good at this! I really do admire people who are able to effortlessly mix their patterns, but it doesn't come so easily to me. Still, I gave it a go in the spirit of the challenge! I really wanted to try this look with a floral print skirt, but unfortunately I couldn't find one that fit in my budget in time.

And my hubs wanted to get in on the action, too!
