Marvelous Mondays: Inspired by Artwork

Happy Marvelous Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was pretty great, full of lots of good stuff. I am looking forward to finally having some time to just relax, though! I'm the type of person that needs a few hours every day to just unwind and enjoy peace and quiet. That's been a bit hard to do with all of the wedding planning coming to fruition here. Yeek!

In any case! If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:
"Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!"

There are currently 5 of us participating in the challenges, so make sure to check out the other ladies' looks! I've posted links at the bottom of this entry for your perusal.

This week the theme was "inspired by artwork." I chose the cubist painter Piet Mondrian's piece "Composition II in Read, Blue, and Yellow."

I originally intended to do some more pattern mixing for this challenge-- I liked the idea of pairing a floral print skirt with a floral print top (drawn from Monet). But when I saw this dress and its cute little brass buttons, I immediately thought of a print of Mondrian's art that used to hang in the children's library back in my hometown when I was a kid.

  2. I've never been a fan of that sort of art, but the dress is quite another thing; it's frickin awesome, and you look so great in it.

    1. My favorite "genre" of art is Art Nouveau, which is really nothing like what I picked, lol! But I loved that painting when I was a kid, mostly because of the bright colors. Thank you!

  3. Oh, man, I love that dress! I have a bit of a soft spot for minimalism in art (and everything else, sort of), and I love that you chose Mondrian. The dress is just so perfect for it!
