Marvelous Mondays: Date Night

Happy Marvelous Monday! This week has really flown by! I have to confess that I didn't actually wear this outfit today. I've had these pictures sitting on my laptop for a while, and when I came across them I thought they would be perfect to share for this challenge. :)

If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:
"Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!"

This week the theme was "date night!" As 20-something newlyweds, our idea of date night recently is pretty much pizza and netflix, haha! But I think this outfit would be cute and fun for a night out as well. I love the tulip back on the top so much!

Marvelous Mondays: Lace

Happy Marvelous Monday! I was super frustrated trying to take pictures of this outfit, let me tell you! When I got home from work it was overcast and sweltering hot-- but it soon started raining, and the sun peeked out at the same time. Needless to say the lighting was totally weird. But I think these turned out okay. At least passable. ;)

This week the theme was "lace." It's no secret that I have an intense love affair with the stuff. I love lace yoked tops, lace accents-- all of it! Something about it is just so light and feminine to me. This is actually the dress I wore for our wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

Marvelous Mondays: Neon

Happy Marvelous Monday! I'm super excited to get back to these challenges! I plan on doing making up posts for the ones I missed while we were in the process of moving, but most (all?) of our stuff is still in boxes. Including my shoes! Noooooo!

If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:

This week the theme was "neon." Despite the fact that I love this trend, I don't have too many neon pieces. Mostly because I have a desk job and if I walked into the office wearing fluorescent tones I would feel a little unprofessional. Nevertheless, I did have this chiffon-yoked tee waiting for the perfect opportunity to makes its debut. It's soft and super comfortable, and we were rewarded a casual week at work, so it was the perfect thing to cheer up a Monday!

Blue Dress Social

Hello my lovelies! I wore this dress today to try out a new church. It's one of my closet staples because it's so easy to just toss on. I love outfits that require minimal fuss!

blue lattice collar dress, ross. t-strap studded sandals, kmart.

We just moved to my husband's hometown, so it's been interesting-- seems like everywhere we go he sees someone he knows from way back when. I'm excited to start to get to know people here as well. Sometimes it's tough to push past my Anxiety, though. I try to take things at my own pace and not feel bad if I'm just not feeling up to anything. It's a struggle but some days are definitely better than others, and I'm getting through it! It might take me a little longer than most but I know I'll make a lot of new friends in time. :)

Emerald and Lace

Hey y'all! I'm trying to get back into the habit of blogging. I've really missed you guys! And, let's be honest, the internet as well. I will freely admit that I am totally addicted. So much of my identity has been developed online-- in a good way, I swear-- by seeing other fat positive folks represented. It does wonders for my own self esteem and the way that I look at myself. When I spend too much time away from those types of images, the bad, hyper-critical thoughts about myself start to creep in.

Today's look is pretty simple, but it was significant to me because lately I haven't been feeling the greatest about myself. But feeling the cool, lush grass beneath my bare feet for the first time in a long time was so soothing. I think the peace of our new place is really affecting me in a positive way-- and looking through the photos I snapped for this look, I think it's pretty evident in me as well. Seeing myself so relaxed and (in my humble opinion) beautiful has really boosted my spirits. :)

It just goes to show you that learning to love yourself is always an ongoing thing. You never really reach a point where you love yourself unconditionally, all of the time. It's a process that you have to actively work at, some days more than others. But I can honestly say that I feel happier with myself than I ever have at any point in my life. I look back at old photos of me and all I can see is the shame I felt all of the time, the way I tried to hide my body and make myself small. I have really come a long way from then, and for that I'm very grateful.
