Sunshine Sweetheart
Hi all! Hope your weekend is off to a great start. I'm having a sleepy day in watching tv and eating Chinese food. Perfection!

So I'm not going to lie, my feet got tired and I totally took the wedges off for the last photo. Haha!

Marvelous Mondays: Layering
Happy Marvelous Monday! Today was a pretty good start to the week if I do say so myself! Hope it was great for you guys as well. :)
If you're new to the blog, here's the idea behind Marvelous Monday:
"Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!"
There are currently 5 of us participating in the challenges, so make sure to check out the other ladies' looks! I've posted links at the bottom of this entry for your perusal.
This week the theme was layering. This outfit hardly qualifies, but considering I live in the Southern United States, it's still pretty hot down here! ;) Fortunately I have this very light lacey shrug.
zipper ankle jeans, thrifted. striped peplum top, jcpenneys. lace shrug, ross. striped studs, small shop in helen, ga.
Don't forget to check out these lovely ladies!

Leopard Love
Day 3 of my new short locks, and I'm sooooo in love. I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe. My long curtain of hair always covered neck/shoulder details as well as back details on tops and dresses. I feel like my new cut shows off my clothes, and really opens up my face. :) No more hiding for me!
oxblood skinnies, lys c/o kmart. sweetheart mesh top, ross. geometric earrings, f21. leopard wedges, cato. spike ring, chubby cartwheels.
We haven't gone anywhere today, and I realized once I'd made it outside to snap these pictures that I'd forgotten my glasses. Whoops! ;)

Flowers on a Rainy Day
Hi there! Happy weekend! Woohoo! I got all spruced up to hang out with my hubs today and just as I was going outside to take these pictures I realized it had started raining. Boo! Fortunately we have a nice screen room/back porch where I snapped these. I definitely prefer outdoor photos but I think they turned out pretty good. :)
floral hi-lo dress, ross. earrings, kohls. statement ring, torrid. mocassin heels, thrifted.
Look at dem shoes!
Today we're headed to the craft store to pick up some journaling cards. I've been using the Project Life system to put together an album of our wedding photos. Ta!

Time for Change!
Well, loves, today I'm here to clear the dust from the air and explain where I've been. These past few weeks my weight has fluctuated, money has been tight, life has been super stressful, and the result of that combination is that I haven't felt very cute, fun, or fashionable at all. For me, it's hard to feel stylish when your clothes aren't comfortable and don't really fit-- but unfortunately, we're not in a place financially where I can replace my wardrobe.
But! All is not lost. I needed to do something for myself that would leave me feeling refreshed and bright again. It was time for the locks to get nixed!
I haven't had truly short hair since I was a small kid, and back then it was the standard 90s bowl cut. But I wanted something versatile, funky, feminine-- something that could be either sweet or sexy. I wanted something much lower maintenance as well. My hair is very thick and wavy, and tangles very easily. I've probably spent a fourth of my life conditioning and untangling.
Here is the before! I've had this hairstyle for several years now.
And here's the after!
What do you think? I love it! I seriously feel like a new woman with this hair! It's like a weight lifted from my shoulders (literally!). I'm going to try and get back into the swing of posting regularly. I'm hoping my new hair was just the trick to make me feel inspired again.
