I've been really frustrated with myself lately. I think because I'm not doing exactly what I want. Don't get me wrong, I love my job; it's challenging, quick-paced, and ever-changing. But it's not writing. I have this need to write that's been a part of me for as long as I can remember. I love storytelling. It's what I do.
So I'm making a promise to myself this year. Just because I didn't get into a career that directly involves writing doesn't mean that I'm going to stop. This year I'm going to go forward with as much diligence as I can muster, and I'm going to write. I'm going to write a hell of a lot.
More on that later.
This Thursday was my office's Christmas party, and my roomski, the boyfriend, and I were all planning on attending. However, we got caught in traffic on the way home from work and were feeling rather stressed out about having to get ready in 8 nanoseconds before plunging right back into traffic to get to the party. So instead we took our time getting dolled out and went out, just the three of us. It was a really nice night!
I wore THIS DRESS from casual plus in a 3X, with my ancient tipped Target heels I thrifted. My roomskie wore a really pretty metallic/lavendar strapless dress from Ross.
We fight. Lolz.
Bonus shot of me and the boyfriend being awkward kids. xD
Merry Christmas!

blue skirts and trims
Finally! After being so broke I could barely feed myself for months, I'm finally at a more stable place financially... which meant that I could at long, long last get a much-needed haircut. Which was obviously rather low on my priority list earlier this year. xD
Afterward I went to dinner and shopping with my beau, so I asked my roomskie to snap a few shots of me just before he arrived.
She has a great (random) love for snapping rapid, spastic shots of people when they are completely unprepared for it... so I'm actually ready to have my photo snapped in a grand total of two of these pictures, haha.
The shirt and skirt are thrifted Target finds, and the flats are seriously ancient. I've actually bought a new pair of similarly shaped black wedges that I've been wearing to work/everywhere else... but I wanted something beyond cozy so I went with the old and familiar.
The jacket's about four or five years old, and it's from Cato. It's pretty much a Fall/Winter staple for me, so you'll probably be seeing much of it. ;D

mountain family
So this isn't an especially fashionable outfit per se... but I was showing my folks around town today and needed something comfortable. My family has lived in Florida for age upon age, so when they were coming up this way to visit me in my new apartment, I had to show them the mountains up close and personal. In case you've never been there, Florida is completely and totally flat. Seriously. I only remember one really tall hill back home, and it's the tallest point in Florida-- Sugar Loaf Mountain.
But anyway, here are a few pics from today!
It's funny how I used to think it was gross how in love my parents are... now I just feel blessed to have such a great couple in my life.
My mom is really short, and was evidently pretty excited to be taller than me for once, haha!
That top actually means a lot to me. My cousin left it with me last time she was here and told me I could just keep it. I really miss her, so I think about her every time I wear it. Why does she have to be all the way in Texas?!

I'm back!
Well hey! Look who's alive! Sorry for the massive lapse here... life was in limbo for more than a little while. Graduated from college in May, moved into an apartment, became an official SC resident (but, truthfully, always a FL girl), worked at Target for a brief stint before landing a fantastic job downtown. Things are finalllllyyy starting to reach an equilibrium again, and I can honestly say that I'm pretty ecstatic about it.
Not to mention that today is actually my 23rd birthday! My roomskie, Iz, took me out to my favorite Chinese place. Check out what I wore:
The roomskie and I!
Finishing touches to fend off the impending mountain chill.
If you haven't already, now's definitely the time to hit up your local Kohl's. I dropped in a few days ago and they have booku stuff on 80% off. I snagged this bodice-detailed dress and another one in black for $10 each. The crochet tights are from K-Mart from the beginning of this year, and the blazer is a vintage find that I've had for eons.
I will also freely admit that I channeled Olivia over at an olive a day (one of my faves!) when I was posing... they say immitation is the greatest flattery, right? xD

casual a plus
I've gotten some things together for the giveaway I promised! The only thing is... well, I honestly can't afford to ship anything right now, so I've got to postpone it. :( I'm really sorry guys! I'm having a really hard time finding a job, and I just graduated from college in May... so needless to say, I'm rather strapped for funds.
I didn't want to just keep you guys in the dark though, so I thought as long as we're thinking about painfully small amounts of cash here, I'd share with you some really cheap, cute buys I've had my eye on.
I don't know how many of you have ever heard of/used casual plus before, but I love them! At first I was a little worried about buying from them, just because the bare layout looks rather irreputable... but they accept paypal, and I can definitely vouge for them as a reliable store. I've bought tons of really cute dresses from them in the past.
I'm especially in love with these newer ones:
1. Denim-look strapless dress, $23.99, 1X-3X
2. Bow-front dotted strapless dress, $24.99, 1X-3X
3. Double v-neck dress w/ bow belt, $28.99, 1X-3X
Casual Plus is mostly Juniors Plus sizes, so you have to take that into an account. I'm a 16/18 with a ~46 inch bust, and the 3X suits me perfectly. They also have a section for 4X-5X with some of the same items.
I really like this embellished top from the 4X-5X section. It looks like a squid!
1. Embellished black top, $15.99, 4X-5X
I've bought these two dresses in the past few months, along with some other cute things that are no longer on the website:
1. Floral cocktail mini, $22.99, 1X-3x and also 4X-5x
2. Black ruffle dress, $14.99, 1X-3X
The site lists the floral cocktail dress as red, but it's actually a really vibrant, rich watermelon pink. I wore it to a wedding and it was amazingly comfortable and stayed put. I sent it through the washer and dryer and it's still in perfect shape with no fading or wear at all, which I know is sometimes a concern for bargain clothes.
The black ruffle dress is astoundingly comfortable. It's made out of breezy lined chiffon and has a smocked waist. I wore it for an eight hour car ride down to FL to visit my family, and it was comfy the whole way there. Not to mention I still got compliments on it after sitting on it in the car for eight hours, haha.
I'll hopefully be able to get some outfit posts up soon! Still searching for that sneaky little camera. Hope all is well with you guys!

flirty skirty
Soooo close to thirty followers! I'm going to start getting things together for that giveaway I promised. :) I'm excited! Thanks guys!
In other news, camera is still lost/misplaced/hiding. CELL PHONE PICS ARE SO AWKWARD.
Or maybe I'm just awkward. Haha. Anyway, please bear with the crap quality for a bit longer until Mr. Camera is ousted from wherever he may lurk.
This outfit is 100% thrifted. Because, let's face it. Even if I wasn't completely broke, I'd probably still only thrift. I LOVE A GOOD DEAL.
In the process of taking these photos, however, I discovered that the lining of the lovely red pencil skirt was a little too stuffy for the weather we've been enjoying in SC this summer. It's already up to 96 degrees these days, so I swapped it out for a shorter, lighter skirt, to this effect:
This skirt is also thrifted. And pink. And I think from ON's maternity line? IDC. xD

28 followers! and some outfits!
Wow, 28 followers! I know that's probably not much compared to more popular blogs, but to me, knowing that 28 people actually liked my blog enough to hit that little "follow" button is a huge, huge deal. I'm thinking I'll have to have a giveaway when the blog reaches 30 followers. Thanks so much, guys!
I've got a few pictures to share this post. Unfortunately my camera has been lost in a box somewhere. I should probably say misplaced, as I know it's not gone for good... it's just that half of my stuff is in storage as I'm inbetween apartments for a couple of months, and I don't know where the camera got stashed.
BUT. We press onward!
Travis and I! We took an impromptu trip to this outlet mall in Georgia we like. Didn't actually get anything, but it was fun regardless. xD
Top: Dorothy Perkins
Black pull-on skinnies: An earlier trip to the same outlet mall! The brand is "Fragile"?
Black flats: Target, 9
---
Somehow this is the only picture of me in the strapless dress I managed to take. I'll have to recreate the look for you guys once I've located my camera. ;D
Dress: casual-plus.com, Juniors 3X
Necklace: Thrifted
---
This is a cute little tank I picked up at Wal-mart. It's really breezey and comfortable-- and I think meant to be worn on Independence Day.
Also, aren't those butterflies pretty? I love my roomskie's taste.
---
Class public bathroom shots, ftw! I took this right before heading in to my shift at the library. There are no full-length mirrors anywhere in this building, ugh. Anywho, this dress is a recent thrift score. Only $2! WIN.
Dress: Thrifted
Belt: Thrifted [Target originally, I think]

I'm aliiiiiiiive
Sorry for the lack of posts again... I graduated from college on the 8th, and my life has been CHAOS since then. I have a temporary job that doesn't pay too well (well, it pays well enough, it's just a miniscule amount of hours) continuing in the library at Furman. But that only lasts through May, and I need to have enough money saved up for the deposit on my new apartment by July 1st. I'm staying with my boyfriend's "aunt" (his mother's best friend) who is delightful and wonderful and a seriously nice lady whom I appreciate and adore immensely for letting me stay with her. The July 1 deadline is out of respect for her. I can't stomach living off of a sweet older lady for any longer than that. Sooooo if I don't have a stable job by then, it's back off to Florida for me. Which, I suppose, in the scheme of things wouldn't be all that terrible.
That having been send, I'm having a heck of a time finding a job. Or jobs to even apply for, that's how scarce they are. I earned my Bachelor's in English, but I'm even comfortable working outside that realm-- really, would kind of prefer to, at least for a while-- and I'm still having a hard time.
Needless to say, funds are a little strapped. But in spite of that, I've procured some seriously cute items thanks to my mad thrifting skillz. My beau's bff is getting married tomorrow, so I splashed a little cash on a cute strapless number that I'll be sure to snag a few shots off for you guys. I'll probably take a few shots of some of my recent thrifting scores as well.
But anyway! Didn't want you to think I'd up and died. I'll be back to posting more regularly as soon as things have calmed down a little bit.

hair cut, take two
I cut my hair again. GASP.
I think it'll look better after being washed and styled again, but here it is immediately after!
Also, I need you guys to help me accessorize my dress for graduation! I'll model it for you guys really soon so you can see what I'm talking about. It's a burnt orange color with tiny navy pinstripes... really cute, but seriously, what can you wear with burnt orange?!
Happy finals week! <3

las montanas
I feel like I haven't updated you guys in FOREVER. So sorry... the end of my senior year of college is fast approaching (one full week of classes, OMG OMG) and I'm finding myself sort of freaking out about what my future will be like. My passion is writing, and I chose to major in a related field (English), but now I'm struggling to decide on what I should do in terms of a career. I've been looking into advertising firms and the like, since that seems the most likely place I'd be able to exercise my creativity and still be able to eat. Maybe a copywriter? I don't know much about that. Must exercise Google-fu more.
In the meantime, here are some pictures from another trip to the mountains that I've been meaning to post for a while now. The beau's mom's best friend (COMPLEXITY) has a house in the mountains near here, so all of us went up for a little weekend mini vacation.
And of course... no day is complete without a short trip to Target to try on random clearance items. I actually had to change into a different shirt when we went, thanks to an unfortunate mustard-squelching accident.
This is what I wore there. ^
I liked the colors in this dress, but the band was just a smidge too tight for my tastes.
Also tried on my first romper. You can probably tell how I felt about the result, haha.
I ended up buying this dress, but the picture came out really dark so I dont' know how much of it you can actually see. I'll have to do an outfit post featuring it in the near future.
Also! I'm thinking I might hunt down a blogger meme or something I can fill out and post, just to give you guys a little more information about who I am personally. If anyone knows of something like that, go ahead and drop me a line! :)
